Another ridiculous moving update...

No chorus of hallelujah just yet - the moving co. said the stuff would be here on Monday or Tuesday (the last of their moving window was technically today). So, that's that. A big, fat pox on them as soon as they off-load our goods...

BUT, we went and bought a TV that we will be returning as soon as our stuff arrives. They have a 30 day no-questions-asked return policy. I still felt the need to make up an elaborate justification story about how we were buying the TV for my retired mother moving into a new place, but we weren't sure if she would need this size, so can we bring this back if it doesn't work out, say, on Wednesday? And then I had to tell them that mom only needed the cheapest TV brand (not the $300 swanky Toshiba) because she really only watches the news and the weather channel. All of this is a dirty rotten lie. Considering that my mom lives about 2000 miles from here and has her home TV system linked with Bose speakers. She would die if she couldn't watch her DVDs of "Enchanted April" and "Secondhand Lions" on a regular basis. But, we bought a TV/DVD combo - rented some movies, dragged the blow-up mattress out into the living room and finally had some semblance of entertainment. We also have "basic cable" (no premium channels) but it includes both Canadian and US channels - we have over 200. It is truly heaven.

We watched Iron Chef America (sweet manna from heaven), Canada's Next Top Model (yep, they have it) AND a French-language science special on Basking Sharks! Les Basking Sharks....

I'm glad that your stuff is starting to trickle in...

I say return the TV. If they have a 30 day "no questions asked" policy, just return it. If they ask why, say: "We've decided we can live without this TV." And if they give you any grief, say -- "what happened to that 30 day/no questions asked policy? There's nothing wrong with the TV, and here are all the components."

Hope your new home starts to feel like home soon! :)

Glad to hear you at least have a little entertainment, and a place to sit in the interim. But it occurs to me that it is very late on Tuesday. So? Furniture yet?
